Some Problems of the Historical Evolution of Nuian Cult Architecture

Yelizaveta Tainoyeva

The range of ancient Nubian monuments and our information about them has considerably been increased owing to rescue efforts taken by UNESCO. Now we are able to make a reappraisal of cult structures erected in different regionsof Kush in different periods. Nubian temple architecture had undergone a process of distinctive formal evolution in its style and a historical transformation of its ritual religious function. The appearance in the early time and further development of temples undoubtedly was closely connected with creating religous centres in Nubia or rather inspired by it.
