Khartoum of the NIF

-A Diary-

-1-

Once a Captain announces with delight

Safty measures to land a peaceful flight,

The Airbus rocks like flapping fast

Over-coming winds losing height.

First intuitions crop up straight

Obstructing eagerness to sight...

There, an irritated gin changes its plight

Gathering momentum for senseless flight,

Thus provoking worry, fear and doubt !

-2-

Oh ! What is it !

What really could it be...what ?

Here inside the plane, intact...

All passengers belt-up and quiet,

Hostesses up and down, so elegant,

Rosy smiles flush rare lively lights

Here, there,aaah, gentle and smart

And so is the flight...

No problem, no, nothing to cite,

But, I tell you what...

Toes start numbing cold and sweet,

Perhaps an uncommon mishape or guilt

Happened or happening on the street;

To be exact...

I see our people muddled in the dust

Some where down over there !

Oh, damned it...

Could it be how one may sense demons

Spread woes on such a hopeful land...!?

-3-

An other curious peep out side the plane

Could visualise our great Niles converging

Deeply concerned,

Assessing pros-and-cons of a calamity

Like highly respected prudent elders

Mistreated by a gang of prodigal sons,

Though clearly generous

As they have ever been

Through ages that have us here !

-4-

First “modern” extensions show up:

Life-less sepricurs amidth shanty townships

Here, there and there,

Dim like a ground dull and broken

Swallowing rays from a drowsy sun,

Towered by climbing smokes, sullen,

Of over-growing social refuse

From a city loll in deepening mourns:

Pooh ! Brakeages, fragments, carcasses…,

Contaminating cultural debris scattered

Here, there and there…!

-5-

As the Airbus touches carefully

On the simmering ground,

Thunderous rattling suddenly flare…,

Groans like-wise rise

Into mad deafening roars;

Woe ! You feel the anger, feel it…,

Disapprovingly pulling up, up,

Exposing beyond doubt

Pitiful sentiments, sadness or distress

Even machines do express sometimes !

When it turns around staggering

Waging its fins

Like a celebrated model sailing astray,

Drowsy, on the cat-walk missing the way,

The Airbus sounds though murmuring:

“Oh, Duty, Duty…,

You are the one who flew me here”!

-6-

The great Airbus taxes cautiously,

Slowly,

Stealthy,

Obviously ‘mindful’ and ‘careful’

Not to break or beard

Any old or new

NIF ‘Islamic’ air traffic laws,

Because that Khartoum of the NIF

Is no part of this veery world we know,

But another galaxy beyond Milky Way,

Ages far, far below

And any lingering beard

On a ‘duty-free-shopping’ spree

Who might be

Or may just feel like a judge

Possessed by wild demon’s flares,

May yell in the name of the Prophet

The way an insincere desperado

At the verge of divorce

Would cling onto a cork of lies,

Foams, jumping up and down…,

Swears to use force for thrice or more,

Digs a puny hand into a stained pocket

Producing queer sentences there…,

Peerhaps renaming the Airbus,

Say, ‘Their al-Ababiel’

Or instantly flogging some guests

For any reeking wine taken in Rome

Flat on the glowing terminal in June,

Just like that,

According to atmosphere and mood

Dictated by a blind misguided ‘Jihaad’ !

-7-

Then passengers disembark normally

One by one, each after the other,

Into a real political oven !

The first to shaw up or rush in,

Drying aggressive silhouettes pale,

Grim and grey

Hiding in beards, thick and shabby,

Puzzling arrivals

Turn around growing worries…,

Wheeziness and dizziness start

While some venture to stammer whispers

And earnestly inquire

About place, age and time,

Why, stern and stubborn, why ?

Almost in uniform, why ?

Lower lips enveloped into upper, why ?

Why really, why ?

Oh, My goodness…,

What a welcome !

Who isulted them…?

What spurred the fellows…!

Who teased them all at once…!

Who, who dis-dis-disturbed ?

Who really, what and why ?

I am a citizen…or, or what ?

Now, my dear…,

I remember every advice so clear,

But some heads could be so thick

And into dragon’s den even walk

Without at least carrying a stick !

So you really wonder,

Wonder and check yourself, perhaps…,

But, no really, but why ?

Oh, The sweet aroma of the virgin land

That keeps people uniquely friendly,

Hilarious, harmonious and jolly,

Seems to have migrated in a hurry

The day the NIF and the like on us

That hellish breath of Hiroshima sprayed !

-8-

The first they inquire thoroughly

Just by looking only

At any national arriving instantly:

“Any ‘blessed’ recommendation, any

From any ‘special branch’ abroad, any ?

Garang the uncompromising Chief Rebel,

Parasitic apostate opposition in refuge,

Spying communistic Human Rights,

Did you ever meet any, any, any ?

Did you ever encounter their liflets ?

Their God-damned literature, any ?

Satanic Verses or magazines,

Alcohol openly in bars and pubs,

Infidel females flat in flats,

Pork grilled in restaurants or parks,

Obscene films in playboy nude clubs,

Any, any, any ? Did you, ha ? Did you…?

They look you up down-wards, down up-wards

Scanning, sniffing, snarling

Like hounds about to spring on the guests

Before masters hurry in to halt !

Then comes in the other quarrel:

Thugs dig into luggage at will,
Gifts fly anyhow in a horrible drill

Till you almost break down or shrill !

Once properly filtered, feel wet,

Oh, first genuine ventilating sweat,

Really nice, smooth, amazingly sweet

Since still standing on your feet

-9-

Out-side the airport,

Yellow taxis like yellow-fever wait,

Fictive fairs take home straight

Or collect in a pick-up, if not,

Then on foot

At once home-wards trot !

The first people ask for is simply

And earnestly

A piece of soap if any,

Yes, mere soap, carbolic or laundry

Because of dirt, dirt every where,

Garbage moving, bearded flies so many !

-10-

The first relative to hug

Supplicates on your behalf

Into your shrieking ears:

“Oh God ! What really happened !

Were you deported, honey ?”

The first brave colleague to meet

Rubs his hands astonished:

“Oooh ! Who is that ! Whooo is that !?

Really unbelievable, you, don’t tell me…,

What brings you home so quick, silly ?”

But there you are…,

Sweetness of home however poor,

Is ever magnetic and attractive

And could sometimes blindly induce

To swallow disappointments even,

Cover them tactically

With soft candid cheerfulness

Though divided, as it seems to be,

Partly seriousness or genuineness,

Partly deepening sadness,

Or real sympathy

Clearly with others

Or solidarity with one’s own self,

While in actual fact,

An embittered heart though beating fast

Starts to clot any way !

-11-

On the way home since not apprehended,

The first large gathering to reach,

If not a queue matching the road,

Then it must be communal funeral

Or a memorial service for a dead ‘mujahid’,

Who must have definitely perished

Somewhere in the east or far in the south

Grafted or mesmerised by ‘Jihaad’,

Advancing side by side,

Retreating hand in hand

Or perhaps fleeing tail in tail

With monkeys

And a bunch of degenerated intellectuals ther,

Whenever attempting to subdue our hope…,

Our invincible resolve to be free !

-12-

Yes, my dear…,

That is Khartoum of the NIF:

Ask for social justice, apostate,

Struggle against injustice, infidel,

Demand for democracy, atheist,

Work for human rights, communist,

Build a church, imperialist,

Talk truth, dangerous spy,

Advocate peace, surrender;

So continues the war,

So continues those multiplying funerals

Clearly distinguishable

By sugar concentration in their tea !

My dear, who else but a Turabist can dare

Robbing our children’s milk and grain,

Who else but a devil’s disciple

Can attempt to suck or drain the rain

In the name of God !?

-13-

Yet in those politicised funerals,

The first bitter point to note

With deepening dismay

Are the incredible satanic wishes

Collectively shared by all,

Fat or thin, short or tall

And thus do NIF fundamentalists pray:

“Oh God, the most Merciful,

The Omnipotent,

Bring your great fires oh God,

Burn the rebels into useless ashes;

Amin…!

Drawn them all,

Oh most Compassionate…,

Their wives, children and supporters;

Amin…!

Oh Lord, Master of all,

Throw on them untold horrors;

Amin…!

Spread plagues on them, oh God,

Spread famine and AIDS by day

On those wretched infidels;

Amin…!

Lord, finish them quickly,

So none can hide or escape

To the UN or human rights agencies

In the countries of heathens;

Amin…!

Cut their legs, Lord,

Cripple their senses, crush their eyes,

Dismember their twiggy limbs

So none can resort to any agency

Of imperialism and atheism;

Amin…!

Oh God the Almighty…,

Finish their apostate leaders,

Amin…!

Their sympathisers wherever;

Amin…!

Finish the fifth columnists;

Amin…!

Change all the governments

That give them support,

All, all oh most Merciful;

Amin…!

Topple them from Pretoria to Tripoli;

Amin…!

From Dar-es-Salam to Dakar…,

Amin…!

Lord, blow up that Kenesett of Zionism,

The Buckingham Palace, the White House,

Crush them Lord,

Destroy them all

From sun-rise to sun-set;

Amin…!

Oh Lord,

Bless our late brother the “Mujaahid”,

Who fell in the first line fighting

Defending the country of the faithful;

Amin…!

Dwell him among the Saints and Prophets,

In Your ever-lasting peace in Heaven…,

Amin…!

Lord, today we celebrate his wedding

To the beauteous mermaid in Heaven…,

So shall his eternal honeymoon be sweet,

Amin…!

Lord, strengthen our unity…,

Amin…!

Lord, concretise our ability;

Amin…!

Impose our credibility,

Amin…!

Lift us beyond probability;

Amin…!

Lord, bless us your slaves in ‘Jihaad’;

Amin…!

Lord, protect those we infiltrate into Africa,

To the International Trade Centre,

To Somalaia,

To Uganda,

To Bosnia,

To Afghanistan,

To Algeria,

To Palestine,

To Chechnya,

To Kenya through Mombasa,

Let us subdue infidels over ther, Lord,

And ‘purify’ the world for ‘Mumineen’ !

Amin..!

God bless our great leaders,

Messengers of Your ever-lasting truth:

Sheikh Omer,

Sheikh Turabi,

Sheikh Zindani,

Sheikh Al-Abbasi…,

Give them ‘wisdom’ and wealth…;

Amin…!

Give them courage and health…;

Amin…!

Grant them power to destroy infidels;

Amin…!

Increase their wits to master their tricks;

Amin…!

Guide their thinking, Lord

To destroy every book red, blue or green,

Amin…!

Grant them success to lead us now

And far beyond those international boarders

To the countries of infidels;

Amin…!

God, bless this great country, The Sudan,

Where the greatness of Your Word

Shall ever glow to ‘illuminate’ the world

Through our sustainable relentless ‘Jihaad’;

Amin…!

We ask you,

Oh most Compassionate,

We your ‘mujaahideen’ till the Day…,

Bless us, oh Master of the Universe !

“Aaaammiiiiiinn”!!

-14-

Oh ! My dear brother…,

So do they solemnly pray,

So do they sincerely bray…,

No wishes ever to foster brotherhood,

No wishes for love,

Never prayers for peace,

No forgiveness,

No reconciliation…,

No garden for roses

No place for flowers

Never a never for never;

All the ruthlessness in the name of God,

In the mosques,

In the streets,

In the buses,

In the factories,

In parties,

In schools,

In hospitals,

In every walk of life

Deep into funerals…,

Oh, wonders, what a culture !

-15-

Still on your way home my dear,

If a gathering be meanering queue

In front of a building, any building

Tall, low or small,

Modern or old,

A mud-house, a villa or mosque

Guarded by a grim ‘mujahid’,

Then, aahaaa…,

That could be a “Five Star” ghost-house,

Some charcoal rationing

Or definitely some UN sponsored grace,

The very UN of imperialism

Or a parasitic ‘Islamic’ relief organ

Distributing oil, flour or sorghum

Taken over from an ‘infidel’ NGO

Through what they call ‘twining’ !

NIF rations almost every thing

And if they are to continue,

People say, they shall disseminate famine

And ration empty sacks for coffins !

-16-

Yes, my dear…,

And if it so happens that a faithful

Retires into a near-by mosque

Any time be it night or day

To ask Providence to open a way

Or dispel some suspicions away,

The first preaching flying stray

To get right away,

Is clearly and simply

A naked one-eyed political sway

Forcefully infused into faith crude and dry

The Religion almost to Heaven fly…,

Just get hypnotised, nothing to do or try;

So does an institutionalised madness lead blindly

To the ultimate deadful decay !

-17-

Covered by twilight at home happy

Receiving long departed beloved,

The first serious advice after prayers:

“Hoi, Hoooi ! Look here…,

Here…, here, no free press;

You talk free,

They press free…,

The first maxim to note…,

Never tell the truth,

Never disbelieve any beard around,

But for cooler atmosphere, my friend,

Spread colourful smiles thankfully

To any roaming beard you meet

Bruise your forehead black

Or dye it with hennah dark and thick

To qualify you for a VIP handshake.

Stick a rosary into your hands

Whenever stressing a point…,

Carry a million curse in your lips

For any person who urinates standing

And a trillion more curses

For those who mix up with females

On public benches, especially in the buses;

Keep muttering the name of God

Whenever you are out to cheat a fool,

Bury the truth in your stomach deep,

Whenever considering a point !

Then sit up concerned and inquire

Though with some what heavy head

Dug into your trembling hands:

“So, how are things in general ?”

General…! General who…?

“Oh, sorry, excuse me please,

I mean the situation, not…not…”

“Aaahhaaaaa….!

The first news to conquer your ears

Is no fiction but the truth my dear,

Truth that demands offering lives for free !
