Two female statues in Nubian sandstone from the Neolithic necropolis of Kadruka in the Leyte Basin. Clear fatigue pattern
Two female statues made of Nubian sandstone dating back to the Neolithic era were found in the Kadruka cemetery.
Jack Reynolds, the archaeologist who discovered them, described the statues as embodying a clear expressive style: the body does not go beyond the main design process while the organs are not formed, and the only anatomical detail present is the reference to the navel across the abdominal area. Despite this, there is no doubt about the femininity of the two statues, in their highly expressive style, where the characteristics of a woman who maintains gender are not mentioned. The genitals are not shown. It is clear that the true meaning of these two statues and other Neolithic statues is still waiting to be deciphered, despite various hypotheses that have been put forward in this regard.
