The horrors of Sudan are being addressed by moving to a new stage
Muhammad Al-Hassan Ahmed
- Quoted from Al-Rai Al-Aam newspaper -
No matter how people imagine the horror of the damage to Sudan as a result of what was published and broadcast in the international media, they certainly cannot realize its extent, size and impact. No matter what the government and all those who want to spread the truth do, whether they are on the side of the government or against it, they will not achieve the goal of correcting a tenth of the damage done to Sudan, the Arabs, and Islam. Darfur strikes the ears in front of every radio, and brings tears to the eyes in front of the television screens, and in all publications without exception, and the main axis of all this infernal circle in the media is “genocide and ethnic cleansing” practiced by Muslim Arabs against Christian and spiritual Africans, knowing that all Africans in Darfur are Muslims!
Even the London Underground, through which more than a million people travel every day, also contributes to burying the truth through the “Metro” newspaper, which is distributed in passenger cars for free. In the Friday issue, in response to a question from one of the readers about what is happening in Darfur, western Sudan, there was the same refrain of ethnic cleansing and genocide of poor, oppressed Africans, Christians and spiritualists, by Muslim Arabs, with a large picture bearing witness to the tragedy... to confirm the veracity of what was published, and even a statement by the “Supreme Pontiff” in which it was reported that suggests that the Darfurians are Christians!!
What is said about the entire British media is almost identical to what is published through the American media and all major and subsidiary media centers in the world... The image of Sudan has been completely distorted with the image of human tolerance with which the people of Sudan are known, and almost everyone is rallying under the banner of the tragedy of the people of Darfur. What increases their enthusiasm is the insinuation that behind this tragedy is the “extremist religious and Islamic dimension” that they have experienced since the tragic events of September in America, and the events that followed, and the accompanying of that dimension with the Arab race, which is the depth of that Islam, as well. The conspiracy between the Janjaweed and Al-Qaeda began to creep in, little by little.
It was natural that all of this would be an interesting entry point for the Jewish lobby and extremist Christians, as well as those who aspire to blackmail the Arab world and isolate it by tightening the siege on Sudan and destroying the unity of its social fabric and the unity of its entity, which is the size of a continent, as they say! What a continent that deserves to be plundered, plundered and torn apart!
The East is riding the Janjaweed wave
Under the title “An armed Sudanese faction accuses the government of forming an Arab “Janjaweed” militia to fight in the East, the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper published a report, quoting a statement from the Beja Conference: that the Sudanese government is training a number of militias from local Arab tribes in the East to carry out genocide and ethnic cleansing operations against the citizens of the East. The statement warned against underestimating the warnings it issued. He called for alerting the international and regional community of these developments from now on!
Until recently, any armed attacks carried out by members of the Beja, Al-Aswad Al-Hurra, or others from the East against government positions were described as opposition National Rally forces. All counterattacks were attributed to government forces. Now that the Beja Conference and the Free Lions Gathering have concluded an agreement and strengthened an alliance with the Sudan Liberation Movement and the Justice and Equality Movement, the descriptions and names have changed, both in relation to the positions and even before the battles took place.
There is no doubt that the developments that Bayan al-Baja wanted to draw attention to are that they have since now withdrawn from their dictionary the use of the word “government forces” and replaced it with the expression “local Arab Janjaweed militia,” because this description is attractive and attracts the world and draws it towards the location and event. This is what prompted them to ally with the two Darfur movements because they found an international reputation and buzz that even overshadowed Iraq and Palestine! The strange thing is that the Beja themselves are called “the Beja Arabs” and the free lions are mostly from the Rashaida and Zubaidiyah, and they are all Aqah Arabs.
Thus, the plans seem to be going beyond the government by focusing on the Arab element, considering it a target for displacement and dragging it into the arena of a racist conflict that it has so far avoided, because for the most part it is fully aware of the goals of such a campaign, but the possibilities are increasing that it may slide into it as long as there are external parties planning this and internal parties - out of ignorance or knowledge - being drawn to it, considering that repeating such accusations, even if they are false, is the easiest way for organizations to spread, no matter how small or large, at all levels. The world will then be able to support and strengthen it, including the Security Council, as is happening now with regard to Dafour, and the confusion that accompanied his decision struck and shook the government, and its interactions are still subject to criticism at the world level.
Implications before and after the Security Council resolution
It was clear from the beginning that there were parties rushing the United Nations to adopt the issue, and unintentionally it seemed that the government had contributed greatly to that, either by responding to what could be described as provocations practiced by the United Nations relief representative or by not realizing the dangers involved in dealing harshly with various relief institutions, both civil and international! They are all institutions that have great influence on international public opinion and decision-making centers in civilized societies in general. In addition to its high ability to attract public opinion, it influences and pushes governments to adopt much of what it requests from those governments, and it often tends to exaggerate with the aim of attracting support and increasing it through excitement, and if the donor governments fear it, then what is the situation with the governments receiving aid? They must always understand their role and make every possible effort to facilitate their affairs because they are repulsed by them or wary of their goals, not to mention the accusations leveled against them. She turns her face away from it, and this seems to have happened in one way or another, to the point of quarrels with the relief agency at the United Nations, and regarding what is related to the approvals for work permits for relief organizations and the length of time it takes to wait for the approval!
It seems that these accumulations helped those with a hidden agenda to easily accelerate their access to the Security Council, as it was clear that the starting shots were fired from New York. Indeed, the African summit held in Addis Ababa was not left to deal with the crisis even though Kofi Annan participated in it, but the Security Council held a session at the same time and the Secretary-General addressed it via satellite from the Ethiopian capital, which means that there are influential parties that do not want to leave the crisis to a regional solution, but rather want internationalization, where the impact is greater and the influence related to it there is stronger and the returns are stronger. It will be more general and comprehensive.
Perhaps the coincidences alone repeated the same scene for Kofi Annan at least. Although he was attending the African summit when the Security Council discussed the situation in Darfur for the first time, when the Council made its decision in the last session, Kofi Annan was this time in his country’s capital, Accra, to participate in a mini-African summit to address the situation in Ivory Coast, which is torn by civil war! Perhaps he is asking himself: What is the difference that made the Ivory Coast war, with all its devastating dimensions, discussed at a summit on the continent and in his presence, and Darfur discussed in the Security Council and through Chapter Seven of the organization’s charter, which permits military intervention... This is called the concept of genocide, and this is the concept of civil war!!
The government's confusion and the repercussions of the decision and its consequences!
In light of the decision of the US Congress in both chambers to consider what is happening in Darfur as “genocide”, the US administration, which stopped short of describing what happened as genocide, had to seek refuge in the Security Council and incite it to issue a resolution despite the fact that there is an agreement between the United Nations and the government of Sudan that is being implemented and gives the government three months ending on the third of the tenth month, while the Council’s deadline was set for one month! In addition, the draft prepared by the United States and Britain was amended four times and the word “sanctions” was reduced and replaced with measures, but it was changed in Chapter Seven, not Chapter Six, which means that these measures can include military intervention.
Whatever the matter, the Security Council resolution is considered in the public sphere to be a condemnation and a threat to the government of Sudan, and it falls within the framework of the hostile media trap that has reached the pinnacle in affecting Sudan. However, the government immediately after its issuance was not prepared for what the resolution was met with. Its official spokesman immediately issued a statement meaning its rejection of the resolution, while the Minister of Foreign Affairs that same evening, in a television program devoted to the issue, expressed his disagreement with that rejection, considering that the resolution is a foregone conclusion because its provisions are almost identical to the agreement concluded with the Secretary-General of the United Nations. United. He said that the Council of Ministers would decide on the matter the next day. But President Bashir's political advisor denounced the decision and spoke about the Security Council's hijacking of the issue from the African Union and its violation of the agreement concluded with the United Nations. Then he attributed to the President their respect for UN resolutions and noted that they do not deal with UN resolutions the way Israel does!
Hours after announcing the rejection, Powell said, “They can say whatever they want, but the issue now is moving forward to help the people of Darfur who are suffering.”
You see, what would happen if the government insisted on its refusal? It would certainly send signals that it is contemplating the campaign against citizens, and secondly, that it defiantly and stubbornly refuses to submit to the Council’s decision, which leaves the door open for the Council to convene again and issue a stronger and harsher decision. But some may say: China has the right to lyto and can use it to nullify the issuance of a new American decision! Will this benefit Sudan in any way if it becomes isolated even from those who amended the decision and voted on it? Have we forgotten how the Security Council was bypassed when America ignited the war on Iraq? Chapter Seven also refers in one of its paragraphs to the possibility of military intervention in the event of “genocide” and without resorting to the Security Council! The United States did not do this in its war against the Serbs because of the crimes of genocide of Bosnians!!
In short, we can take a lesson from this news and deny it. The Independent on Sun Day said that the British government had asked the 12th Brigade to prepare to intervene in Sudan. Hours after its release, a Foreign Office official denied the news and said: “If she was asked to do so, but she was not asked to do so.” Certainly, the “Independent” did not fabricate the news, but rather it was true. What is more correct is that the Sudanese government announced its acceptance of the decision and therefore the request was withdrawn. This is my reading of the news and its denial, and I calculate The government has remedied the situation after confusion and sending contradictory messages that have not stopped yet!
Change is a top priority to face this stage
At the end of this review and analysis, we conclude with what we began the conversation with, which is that the horrors that befell Sudan as a result of its marking of purification and extermination are impossible to underestimate or be patient with. It is an extremely dangerous issue, and it is not true what some ministers said and are saying, that the experiences that the “rescue” went through were greater and worse than what it is experiencing these days and can be overcome, as has always happened. What is happening now is an earthquake that is likely to wipe out the entire face of Sudan.
Truly, and honestly, I do not imagine that it can be overcome by popular mobilization, moral steadfastness, or stubbornness practiced by the illusion of capabilities that are beginning to erode the body of the social fabric. However, the only way through which it seems to me that we may find an outlet and an outlet is to accelerate the start of the transitional period by forming the transitional national government even before all the picture of agreement and reconciliation is complete. Change must be the highest priority, knowing that what was agreed upon in Naivasha, if we hasten it, may be the savior, and the call for a constitutional national conference and not the Darfur conference must be expedited. The matter is impossible to fix except by moving to the new phase. Perhaps the picture will change, especially since all political forces sense the danger and most of them do not speak out against me and my enemies, but rather fear for Sudan the horror of what it is planning.
